Split Expenses with Friends — Free, No Sign-Up, No Daily Limit
Holiday house, road trip, shared flat, stag party or a family weekend: someone pays for the groceries, someone else for fuel and tickets. Create a group, share one link, and everyone adds what they paid. The page works out each person’s balance and shows who pays whom — with as few bank transfers as possible, to the cent.
Nobody needs an account, an app or an email address, and there is no limit on how many expenses you add per day. Group name, names and amounts are encrypted in your browser before they reach our server; the key is only in the link you share, so we can’t read your group.
How It Works
- Create a group with a name, a currency and the people who share costs. Add the date your trip ends if you like — the group is deleted 30 days later.
- Share the link in your group chat. Everyone adds what they paid: the amount, who paid, and who it was for — split equally, by shares (for example 2:1 for a couple and a single) or with exact amounts.
- Settle up. “Who pays whom” shows the fewest transfers that make everyone even. Once someone has paid, tap “Paid” and the balances update for everyone.
- Download a CSV for your records, or simply let the group delete itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no paid version and no daily limit. One group holds up to 50 people and 500 expenses.
Who can see and change the expenses?
Everyone with the group link can see all expenses and add new ones — that is how the group works together, so only share the link with the people in it. An expense can only be changed or deleted on the device where it was added, or by the organizer with the organizer link.
What do you store?
The group (name, currency, names) and each expense (description, amount, who paid, how it is split), encrypted with AES-GCM in your browser and stored on our own server in Germany. The key is only in the part of the link after the “#”, which browsers never send to a server. We don’t store email addresses or IP addresses.
When is the group deleted?
30 days after the trip end date the organizer sets, and at the latest 180 days after the group was created. The organizer can change the end date or delete the group at any time.
Can I add expenses in another currency?
Yes. Pick the currency and type the exchange rate you actually paid (for example from your bank statement). We don’t call an exchange-rate service, so nothing about your group leaves your browser.
How are cents rounded?
All amounts are calculated in whole cents. If an expense can’t be split evenly (10.00 among three people), the extra cent goes to the person who paid, so the balances always add up to exactly zero.
How is this different from Splitwise or Tricount?
It covers what most groups need — expenses, balances, who pays whom — without accounts, an app, ads inside the group or a daily limit, and the contents are end-to-end encrypted. There are no receipt photos, payment links or recurring expenses; if you need those, a full app is the better fit.
